Title: The Magic of Being You
Author: Randal Yasar
The Magic of Being You
Here’s a great book with a wonderful message about self acceptance, individuality and stepping outside of your comfort zone.
Follows four forest friends… Bennington the Bear, Finn the Fox, Evie the Elephant, and Harper the Hedgehog. They decide to plan a festival to celebrate the unique qualities that make everyone in their forest community special. Through various acts of bravery and creativity, each character showcases their individual talents.
The festival is such a success that it becomes an annual event in the forest! Celebrating self-expression and individuality, reinforcing the message that our differences are a source of strength and beauty.
In the back of the book, there’s a page where readers can color their own “festival flags”. I love it when books do this, it really helps teachers. After we read the book, I handed out the flag exercise and the second grade kids all enjoyed themselves creating their own individual flags and presenting them.
I really like the message in this book, I think it can encourage acceptance and youngsters to step outside their comfort zone (which is so important). The illustrations complement the text perfectly and are age-appropriate. I hope we can see these characters in future books, as I think this group would be quite suitable for a series.
We really enjoyed this book, I highly recommend it for both parents and teachers!

About The Author
Welcome! I’m Randal Yasar, a storyteller with a heart for inspiring young minds and a firm belief in the transformative power of books. While my career as a Business Leader has been a journey of strategy and growth, my passion for storytelling has always been a guiding light—a way to connect, explore, and celebrate what makes us uniquely ourselves.
Growing up, my greatest treasures were my library card and the music that filled my world. Books opened doors to new adventures and ideas, allowing me to dream beyond my circumstances, while music taught me rhythm, harmony, and the power of expression. These early influences shaped my understanding of the world and continue to inspire the stories I write today.
As a child, I often felt out of place because of my differences, but I later learned that those differences were my greatest strengths. That realization—one that I carry into every aspect of my life—forms the heart of my writing. My debut children’s book, The Magic of Being You, is a celebration of those very differences, encouraging young readers to embrace what makes them unique and special.
Writing my first book was a leap of faith—a challenge to let go of perfection and take the first step toward a lifelong dream. It’s a story that celebrates kindness, individuality, and the courage it takes to be yourself. My hope is that it resonates with readers of all ages, sparking joy, imagination, and meaningful conversations.
When I’m not writing or immersed in my professional world, I love traveling to new places, learning new things, and spending time outdoors surrounded by nature and animals. These passions keep me grounded and continually inspire the stories I share. Thank you for joining me on this journey—let’s celebrate the magic that makes each of us shine.
