From Park To Playa

You’ll love this book!! Great concept, excellent illustrations, smart writing. My students gave it two thumbs up 👍👍 … it’s a MUST HAVE!! About a young girl who imagines her life if she didn’t have to go to school. she dreams of relaxing days by the pool, sleeping in, playing games or watching TV all day. Initially the thought of endless leisure seems appealing, but as she continues the thought experiment she realizes that it could lead to boredom and monotony. She would miss her friends and wouldn’t be able to participate in school activities. This realization helps her appreciate school… the joy of learning, the camaraderie of classmates, taking pride in personal achievements, playing after school sports, looking forward to Summer Holiday and everything else that goes with it. It’s a heartwarming reminder that school isn’t that bad, it’s more than academics, it’s a community, where children play and learn and grow up together. The writing is beautifully crafted in rhyme, the flow is very good and doesn’t feel forced at all. This makes it wonderful for reading to groups. My third graders loved it and I must say the illustrations are fantastic. They perfectly match the text and really bring the story to life. All things considered this is everything I look for in a children’s book. We had the best time reading it and will be introducing it to our colleagues … go pick it up, I highly recommend adding it to your collection!
