Meet The McKaws

Tells the story of Captain Stan, a pirate, and his parrot companion, Tiny McKaw. The duo enjoy their adventurous pirate life until Tiny’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. McKaw, come for a visit. The visit quickly disrupts their peace as Mrs. McKaw is overly critical and Mr. McKaw constantly tells long-winded stories. After a series of frustrating events, Captain Stan orders them to leave. However, when a storm hits, it is the McKaws who come to the rescue, bringing their whole parrot family to save the ship. They bring them back to the Parrot’s home on “Blue Feather Island” where they help the captain rebuild his ship. The captain apologizes for kicking them off of his ship and the McKaws apologize for being rude. In the end, everybody is happy the captain and tiny have a new ship and they set sale for another adventure. This book has excellent illustrations they go perfectly with the text. It’s funny, lighthearted and presented well. Despite having a small conflict there was of still unconditional love for family in their time of need. They apologize to each other which is a good example of healthy conflict resolution. Definitely a great addition to your book collection.
