Title: Milo

Author: Adrienne Burnheimer

                        MILO

Check out this awesome book about 911, told from the point of view of a mouse.

Milo the mouse lives in New York City and discovers a restaurant with delicious food and a friendly chef named Francesco. Milo stops by the restaurant regularly to visit him and have a bite to eat.

Then on September 11, 2001 … Milo hears a great commotion and is spooked. He runs for a hole and hides in safety until things calm down. Emerging from his hole he discovers that Francesco’s restaurant is gone. Confused and unsure of what happened, Milo moves on wondering if he’ll ever see Francesco again.

I read this with the third graders and found it to be a wonderful introduction to the events of 911. After we read the book, we talked about what actually happened, then showed the kids some footage from YouTube. I love the topic and the creative perspective this book offers. I found this to be an excellent resource for the classroom and highly recommend checking it out!
