What is law?

A kid's journey into the world of rules

Here’s an excellent introduction to law in the United States. The fourth graders learned a lot and it sparked some very meaningful conversations in our classes.

This book introduces young people to the concept of laws and their importance. It explains fundamental legal concepts like what laws are, why they exist, how they’re made, how they protect people etc. It also teaches how we can contribute to positive change and have a voice through petitions, student councils, and advocacy. You’ll also find a few quizzes and even some interesting laws from around the world (Which the kids particularly enjoyed). We read the book in two parts, taking our time and thoroughly talking through the questions that came up.

The presentation is simple, informative and quite suitable for that age group. I found some interesting videos on YouTube about strange laws around the world throughout history (which was pretty interesting and got some laughs)

I’m always on the lookout for educational books like this! I love this topic, and rarely see it presented in a way that is so entertaining and digestible for youngsters.

This one’s a gem 💎 and a MUST HAVE for teachers!
